The fighting game that changed a genre, enraged a Nation, and enthralled a generation is back.
Parents lock up your kids, cause the game you loved when you were a kid is ready to befoul a whole new generation. Bring it on.
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, the fifth installment of the controversial fighting game has been revamped for the Playstation 2.
MK went 3D with their last installment, but that wasn’t enough for number five.
This was for PS2. The first new MK installment to be released on console first. Midway went all out on this one. And it has paid off BIG TIME.
Mortal Kombat hasn’t been this exciting since MK II. Picture the best features from MK2 mixed with MK4 and you Have MK5.
The graphics are at the top of the game. Incredibly smooth, high rez characters with detailed levels.
In the past the blood in the Mortal Kombat games has been limited to spraying out and on to the floor, later seeping through the cracks.
Now, the blood not only stains the floor and walls, but the character’s face. Yes, blood on the face. Awesome.
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance features 21 plus playable characters, a ton of secrets, including hidden levels, characters, and hopefully fatalities.
I say hopefully, because as to date. We only know of one fatality per fighter, and no pits. This is NOT kool.
The only other complaint I have is the FMV could be better. Its far from the likes of Dead or Alive, or Tekken.
However, I wish they had animated the character’s endings instead of a slide show read to us. Boo-Urns!
I have always been a Mortal Kombat fan. I was at the prime target audience age when Mortal Kombat debuted.
However, I never played it much til it hit my Sega Genesis. Boy did it hit it hard.
I don’t think my Genesis ever recovered actually. Even worse the Super Nintendo version of Mortal Kombat II.
Still, I believe MK2 is the most played game I have ever owned.
I am such a MK fan, I found good points in MK Sub- Zero, and Special Forces. And believe there was vary few.
So, naturally when the word came out that Midway was finally producing an MK 5, I was astatic.
However, I was expecting a Mortal Kombat 4 update. But wow, my expectations were destroyed as the MK movie sequel tag line stated.
MK: Deadly Alliances is not only the best Mortal Kombat game since MK II, but It’s one of the best fighting games on Playstation 2 period.
I highly recommend this game. And to all those who said playing Mortal Kombat would ruin our kids.
I hope someone bashes in your heads, cause I turned out fine. Just kidding 😉
